Shakti Naam Yoga & Meditation

What is Shakti Naam Yoga® and Meditation?

breathe, move, meditate

Rhythmic sound and breath meditations, Kundalini style yoga exercises and vitalizing Shakti Naam techniques, this is Naam Yoga and Meditation.

Naam Yoga and Meditation allows anyone - without prior knowledge and regardless of age and fitness level - to join at any time. We do not do difficult yoga asanas (yogic postures), because we want to have fun.

Naam Yoga is therefore fun, particularly varied, improves breathing, concentration, fitness and flexibility. The Shakti Naam techniques (Sukshma Vyayama), according to the teachings of its yogis and the founder of Naam Yoga, are even able to slow down the aging process and keep our brain fit.

Naam Yoga is of course also about practicing more mindfulness with oneself and one's fellow human beings and opening the door to the heart through a lived open attitude.

Naam Yoga is fun and fit

My motivation and passion

Personally, I did the Naam Yoga and Shakti Naam Yoga teacher training in 2011 to pass on this invaluable knowledge and because I enjoyed teaching it and supporting people with it. What I especially appreciate about Naam Yoga is that it touches deep in the heart and always gives me confidence, strength and energy. It helped me to better understand the meaning and effect of mantras, mudras, yogic breathing techniques and asanas, and especially to feel their effectiveness on my own body. This has changed my life in a positive way and has always given me new impulses.

More information about Shakti Naam Yoga and Meditation

History of origins

Naam Yoga was further developed by Dr. Joseph Michael Levry (Gurunam) from Kundalini Yoga (after Yogi Bhajan). Through the combination with Shakti Naam techniques (Sukshma Vyayama) and the understanding of universal laws from the teachings of the Universal Kabbalah, a yoga and meditation technique was created that stimulates physical and mental fitness and also personal spiritual development.

Essential contents and effect

Naam Yoga and Shakti Naam opens all the meridian systems in the body and massages our glands and organs in a specific way, allowing blockages to dissolve and energy to flow freely again.

Essential elements of Shakti Naam yoga and meditation practice are based on the:

  • Science of breath
Pranayama, energizing, calming, detoxifying and other breathing techniques.
  • Science of sound
Generating vibrations through healing sounds and mantras.
Here you can buy and download many healing mantras by Dr. Joseph Michael Levry:
-> Music / Mantras by Rootlight
  • Science of Mudren
Activation of meridians and brain regions through certain hand/finger gestures
  • Science of the Universal Kabbalah*
Teaching of the visible and invisible laws of nature, thus also planetary influences.
*The teachings of the Universal Kabbalah are independent of religion. It teaches us to understand how we can shape our lives through our thoughts, emotions and actions, but also change and influence them in a positive way.

Shakti Naam - Sukshma Vyayama and Kundalini

Exercises while standing, sitting and moving provide variety and cheerfulness

Naam Yoga combines the best of the Eastern yoga tradition with the best of Western wisdom, Universal Kabbalah. It includes Kundalini Yoga elements, breathing, mudra and meditation techniques, as well as powerful mantras that activate, regenerate, strengthen and harmonize. With regular practice, Shakti Naam Yoga and Meditation leads to inner strength, clarity and serenity.

Shakti Naam exercises are very powerful yoga techniques in standing and sitting, which are still largely unknown in the Western world. They come from the Sukshma Vyayama tradition, also known as the "yoga of immortality". Yogis say that these techniques can effectively prevent or slow down the aging process and health problems related to it.

Shakti Naam acts like a self-acupuncture, it:

  • stretches and opens our body
  • opens all the meridian systems and our lungs
  • thereby brings a lot of energy (prana, life force) into our body to every cell
  • dissolves blockages in the body
  • Massages important organs in a specific, effective way
  • purifies, renews and enriches the blood
  • relaxes the sympathetic nervous system
  • strengthens the parasympathetic nervous system
  • harmonizes/regulates blood pressure
  • strengthens the immune system
  • harmonizes the endocrine system (glandular and hormonal system)

The science of breath

Breathing exercises are called pranayama. Naam Yoga is the science and mastery of breath and the generation of sound vibrations. These are the most important aspects of Naam Shakti. By controlling the breath, we can control the mind. A calm and level-headed person breathes quietly and slowly. An emotional and tense state of mind, on the other hand, increases the frequency of breathing.

The breath, in conjunction with the naam or mantra sound vibration, awakens the hidden creative energy, also called the Adi Shakti or Kundalini force.

Some important breathing techniques include Fire Breath, Breath-of-Glow, Segmented Breath, Sitali Pranayama, Navel Pump Breathing, Special Nose Breathing, and many more, each with a specific effect.

The science of sound / mantras

A mantra is a sequence of sounds designed to uplift and change consciousness through repetition (recitation/vibration) of certain rhythms. Mantras are encoded sounds, comparable to telephone numbers. Each has a unique effect. Mantra means "projection of the mind" and is a technique to direct our mind. Mantras are mystical words, but they are far more valuable than the words we use in everyday language.

While studying human anatomy, initiates discovered a relationship between a specific nerve center in the brain and certain sound vibrations. The greatest strength of the human being is located in the frontal brain and the upper palate. Our whole personality is regulated by our frontal brain, which we can control with the help of mantras. Controlling the frontal brain prevents impulsive behavior and creates a meditative mind. Those who regulate and control the nervous system through chanting can free themselves from disease.

The combination of sound, resonance and rhythm creates an altered consciousness that brings forth new thought patterns. However, how powerful a mantra is depends on the level of consciousness. The more one chants, the higher one's consciousness develops.

The science of mudras

Mudras ... energy circuits of the hands

Mudras are healing symbols that act like energetic keys. Using the hands and fingers as symbols and energy circuits, we can awaken our consciousness and activate the specific energy patterns necessary to produce the desired (healing) effect. The effectiveness of a mudra depends crucially on its duration of application. When a mudra is practiced regularly over a long period of time, it creates an energetic path that brings out the original power and purpose of the mudra.

The teaching of mudras is based on the fundamental principle that everything that exists in the macrocosm is also found in the microcosm. Mudra Yoga balances the five elements of fire, earth, water, air and space (ether) in the body. Mudras assist the flow of thought and prepare us for more subtle awareness. The repetition of certain repetitive postures, which specifically refine our awareness, enables us to recognize instinctive patterns of behavior and develop the ability to let go of them. In this way, Mudra Yoga positively influences health and mood.

The fingers represent the five elements that are part of our bio-electric body system. When we are in the best of health, this electrical current flows unimpeded through the meridians of the body. If blockages hinder the flow of energy, illness, lethargy, weight fluctuations, moodiness, etc. occur. Mudras dissolve such blockages and strengthen the life force so that the body can recover.

Where and how do I learn to use these techniques correctly?

How all this works and how to use these techniques correctly can be learned in my topic-specific courses or in a personal yoga/meditation coaching. In a group, the exercises are especially fun because of the group dynamics and group energy.
